2021/2022 BOARD MEMBER ELECTION RESULTS




CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE RE-ELECTED AND NEWLY ELECTED BOARD MEMBERS





INCUMBENT




Donald Alvarez has been a member of the Scottsdale Bar Association for many years and has been a member of the Board of Directors for 6 years. He has served on the following Board Committees: Budget, Membership, Social, and Speakers (Chair).

Over the course of his over 45 year legal career, he has served on numerous charitable boards and foundations, including the Maricopa County Bar Foundation, the Boys and Girls Club of Metropolitan Phoenix Foundation Board of Trustees, Arizona Boys Ranch, and Youth Partners Foundation. He also served as a member of the City of Scottsdale Judicial Appointments Advisory Board for 6 years and was Chairman for 3 years. He has been a Neutral with the American Arbitration Association since 1981 and continues to serve as an Arbitrator and Mediator, and is a long-time member of Arizona Association for Justice, also known as the Arizona Trial Lawyers Association.

Don is interested in continuing to serve the Scottsdale Bar Association on its Board.


Lori Metcalf has been practicing law in the valley for 29 years. She retired from her position as a Judge at the Phoenix Municipal Court in December of 2017 and is currently a partner in the law firm of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, PA, located in Scottsdale, Arizona. She primarily focuses her law practice in the areas of medical malpractice and nursing home defense. She also serves as a pro tem Judge at Scottsdale City Court, and as an adjunct professor at Arizona State University.
 
Lori believes that community involvement fosters confidence in our legal and education systems. She has served on various committees for the Phoenix Municipal Court and has volunteered her time as a mock trial coach for high school teams and as a Girl Scout troop leader. Lori formerly served as a member of the Steering Committee of the Arizona Women Lawyers Association-Maricopa Chapter (AWLA-Maricopa) and as Chair of the Leadership Appointments Committed for AWLA-Maricopa. She is the current Secretary for the Board of Directors and was the Treasurer from April 2019 through March 2020.
 
Lori would like to continue serving on the Board of Directors of the Scottsdale Bar Association to be able to further contribute to its mission within the legal community.


NEW CANDIDATE



Erica Padish Conrad is well-versed in many areas of law, including family law matters and both civil and criminal litigation. Erica graduated from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois in 2010. During law school, Erica worked for one of Chicago’s most prominent domestic relations law firms. Following graduation from law school, Erica worked as a Judicial Law Clerk in the Circuit Court of Cook County. She clerked for judges in both the Chancery and Law Division where she drafted written orders on contested motions and managed mass tort case portfolios. Erica was then Assistant General Counsel to the Sheriff of Cook County, where she served on the internal review board of excessive force cases. She was the primary legal point of contact for matters in which Cook County inmates represented themselves and ensured the Cook County jail was in compliance with all civil rights requirements for these inmates. She later served as in- house counsel at Benedictine University, focusing on Title IX compliance. She now works with her father, James Padish, at the Padish Law Group, PLLC.


Paul Dowdell has been practicing law in Arizona since 1991, currently with Sacks Tierney, P.A. He is a graduate of The University of California Hastings College of the Law and has been licensed to practice law in California since 1993 (currently on inactive status). His practice is dedicated to business and real estate law and litigation, representing business owners and professionals, franchisees, corporations, limited liability companies and partnerships, title companies and their insureds, property owners, commercial landlords and tenants, and investors, in business and real estate transactions and disputes.

Paul lives and works in Scottsdale. He has been an active board member of the Editorial Board for Arizona Attorney Magazine since 1995 and a member of the Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce for a number of years.

Paul would be honored to serve as a member of the Board of Directors.


David Schmidt has been practicing in Arizona for over seven years. He graduated from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of law and recently joined Clark Hill as an associate in the litigation group. Before joining Clark Hill, David practiced with a civil litigation firm in the Biltmore area.

David has experience with leadership roles with attorney organizations. He served on the Young Lawyers Division (YLD) of the Arizona Association of Defense Counsel for five years and now is a general member of the Association. During that time, he served as the CLE Chair, Vice President, and President of the YLD.

David would like the opportunity to utilize his experience working with the YLD to expand the Scottsdale Bar Association’s reach to other young lawyers committed to the Association’s mission. Clark Hill has been a consistent supporter of the Scottsdale Bar Association for over a decade, and now David would like to continue to provide support by hosting its board meetings, virtually or in-person, through service on the Board of Directors.
